About me

I'm a writer, author, researcher and creative storyteller with a love for world-building.

\

I document emerging culture from across the Black Atlantic; seeking out the connective tissue that shapes both continent and diaspora, forged in the afterlives of slavery and colonialism.

\
From London to Lagos, Kampala to Kinshasa, Kingston and back, my words have been featured in British Vogue, The Face, Mixmag, Huck, Skin Deep Magazine, TRENCH and Kohler.

\

I also consult on creative brand storytelling, strategic communications and digital content strategy.

Creating masterpieces: London is the Nigerian producer making unique bangers

Behind every great artist lies a shit-hot producer, or so the saying goes. Have I always seen eye to eye with some of Hus’ more recently expressed politics? A hard no. But will rinsing early bangers like Want From Me and Calling Me on Soundcloud during the mid-2010s fo

Recessland was a victory for Black British youth culture

The year is 2023, and Recess is London’s hottest clubnight. The location for their 100th party? Margate, Kent. The bustling seaside town is furnished with all the makings of a great escape for concrete jungle-fatigued city dwellers: sandy beaches that could rival those of Barbados (well, if you squint long and hard enough), “proper” fish and chips, panoramic seafront views from the Turner Contemporary gallery and Dreamland – the iconic amusement park and host of the Recessland festival.
